Education System in England,
Wales and Northern Ireland
Primary School
Pre-school education starts at the age of 3-4. Children normally start education at the age of 5 and move to secondary school at the age of 11.
Secondary School
Secondary Schools teach students to at least age of 16 to prepare them for GSCE or equivalent recognised qualification.
Post-Sixteen Education
After finishing GSCE students can stay on to study for A levels or equivalent vocational qualifications. These qualifications can be done in a school, sixth-form college or college of further education.
Post Eighteen Education
Students normally commence higher education at the age of 18 and study at Universities or Colleges. First academic degree is a Bachelor degree programme, which normally lasts for 3-4 years, Masters Degree programme take additional 1 year and a Doctoral degree programme following 3-5 years.
